Randy Reames

Where all the rainbows go

Do you know where the rainbows go
when they fade away?
There’s a place where the blue skies go
at the close of the day.
Home sweet home for those who roam
when the race is won,
And we hope to meet you there
When our journey’s done.

You graced this life for a few short days
With your innocence and smiles,
And like a rose that sweetly grows
You blossomed for a while.

But it seems the brightest flowers
bloom for just one day,
And like the rainbow glowing soft
they quickly fade away.

Chorus:

We all know that the rainbow glows
when the storm has gone,
And the skies shine the brightest blue
when the clouds move on,

Memories of the springtime flowers
ease the winter’s way.
And it’s true when the rainbow fades
It leaves a brighter day.

Chorus:

It’s mid winter, cold and life seems to have settled into a post holiday slump. I miss the sunflowers, sparrows at the bird feeder with their raucous chatter and being able to take a break and just stand in the front yard with my arms raised to the sky, soaking up the summer sun.
I’ll be glad when the days are longer and the weather is friendlier, the snow is gone and green and growing things are pushing up and reaching for the sun, even if they are weeds growing up through the rocks in the front yard.

Why modify the sucker when it runs so well this way?
